Topologically Spectrumed
P5js /Creative Coding / Conceptual
Topologically Spectrumed is a generative art (loop animation) inspired from a mathematical topology as it was my personal interest. The name is a fun word play of how P5js named each new file with the most random names combination and it has to be a two-word name. An ode to P5js. Developing when my creative practice expands toward 3D modelling (on Blender) during my final year of Graphic Design bachelor degree. Not only constructing 3D geometry, my 3D journey expands into organic shapes. Then I saw a mathematical plug-in function in Blender which gave a more organic shape and decided to dive really deep in creating an organic shape.
For this final project, I have decided to recreate an organic shape using p5js as a medium for a self challenge. As a former graphic designer, I am very drawn to fine line vector works and mathematical topology shapes tend to be illustrated with grids. Also, I do like grids too. It was an easy decision-making for the outcome.
With an adaptation for this project, I was aiming to create a 3D effect sketch without using a WEBGL as my main constraint. Working around 2D lines with some animated movement , I prioritized aesthetic expression over the use of complex equation of mathematical topology context. I found it fascinating that a seemingly simple concept like manipulating vertices could generate intricate and captivating shapes through the use of loops.
